Caprice D. Hollins, Psy.D. is a co-founder of Cross Cultural Connections and a licensed clinical psychologist.  She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Seattle University and her doctorate at Alliant International University—Los Angeles campus, with an emphasis in multicultural and community psychology.  She has over 15 years of experience providing mental health services, facilitating workshops and teaching graduate courses as an adjunct professor at several local universities including Seattle Pacific University, Antioch University, University of Washington and Mars Hill Graduate School.

She joined Seattle Public Schools as the first Director of Equity and Race Relations where she supported the educational mission of the District to dismantle institutional racism.  Her role included providing guidance and resources to district administrators and staff, facilitating culturally relevant professional development to promote the cultural competence of staff, review of School Board policy to ensure equity, promoting best practices around family and community engagement, and screening curriculum for anti bias and multicultural content. Ilsa Govan, M.A. is a co-founder of Cross Cultural Connections. She has more than fifteen years of experience as a classroom teacher and anti-racist community organizer.  She began her work for social and environmental justice in high school with her involvement in advocating for Native American rights.  Since then she has facilitated and participated in numerous study circles and conferences and worked as an Equity and Race Specialist for Seattle Public Schools. She currently co-coordinates the group WEACT (The Work of European Americans as Cultural Teachers), which encourages educators to challenge and support each other with cross-cultural interactions.

Ilsa earned her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Western Washington University and her Master's Degree in Bicultural Human Development from Pacific Oaks College Northwest. For her thesis, she spent a year studying effective European American teachers of African American students in three Seattle elementary schools. Learn more about Ilsa.
 

Anita Garcia Morales received her BA and Teaching Degree from the University of Washington.  She taught in Seattle Public Schools for over 20 years and is currently the K-12 Social Studies Coach and Project director for a Teaching American history Grant.  The common thread that runs through all that Anita does is her focus on social justice and equity.  In her classroom, Anita honored the gifts children brought and created a safe and nurturing environment that allowed children to take risks, make mistakes and learn.  She is skilled at creating safe and trustworthy spaces for people to reflect on why they came to do the work they do with children and families and how to tap their inner resources to continue to do the hard work that is needed for our children. 

Eddie Moore, Jr, PhD currently serves as Director of Diversity at The Bush School (www.bush.edu) in Seattle, WA.   Dr. Moore received his Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies at the University of Iowa.  Dr. Moore is an ex-student athlete and remains committed to the influence of athletics and academics in the lives of all students. Dr. Moore holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell College in Mount Vernon Iowa, in Political Science.  He received his Masters of Arts in Educational Administration from Loras College in Dubuque Iowa.  Recognized for his ability to motivate students of all ages into action, Dr. Moore continues to be invited to teach/speak locally, nationally and internationally on issues related to diversity, cultural competency, white privilege, oppression and self-esteem (www.eddiemoorejr.com). Dr. Moore is an active member of Brothers of the Academy (BOTA) www.brothersoftheacademy.org and maintains an energetic, positive and caring attitude. Lastly, Dr. Moore is the founder and program director for the white privilege conference (www.uccs.edu/wpc).
