Save the Dates for Upcoming Workshops for 2026

Calendar icons with bold numbers and various colors. Events listed: Train the Trainer, Equity Leaders, White Women’s Leadership, Unpacking Sexism.

We are in the last quarter of 2025 so it's time to plan our 2026 workshops. We have four workshops scheduled for next year so far which you can find below, along with brief descriptions. We will announce more details in this newsletter when registration opens!

Train the Trainer with Dr. Caprice Hollins & Ilsa Govan

January 14, 15, & 16 at 8:30-12:00pm PT on Zoom

Through engaging and interactive exercises, participants learn strategies and tips on how to successfully present sensitive information to a wide audience of learners. You will develop skills to take difficult conversations about race, privilege, and power to a deeper level and learn strategies for working with resistance.

Equity Leaders with Dr. Caprice Hollins & Ilsa Govan

March 12 & 13 at 8:30-12:00pm PT on Zoom

This workshop provides an opportunity for equity leaders to share strategies for organizational change, problem solve some of the challenges they face, and to network. Facilitators Caprice Hollins & Ilsa Govan will share a model of multicultural organizational development and strategies for change we’ve identified over the past fifteen years in our work with hundreds of organizations.

White Women's Leadership Lunch & Learns with Ilsa Govan & Tilman Smith

Fridays, May 29, June 5, 12 at 12:00-1:00pm PT on Zoom

During this lunch and learn series, we will explore topics on our minds and hearts today as we think about the role of white women's leadership in promoting racial justice.

Unpacking Sexism and White Privilege in Pursuit of Racial Justice with Ilsa Govan & Tilman Smith

July 9 & 10 at 9:00-3:30pm PT In-Person

While white women face experiences of gender oppression, we also benefit from white privilege. In what ways do these two phenomena work together to create misunderstandings, missed collaborations, and acts of supremacy? In this workshop, we use a developmental model to examine how our identities change as we grow in our understanding of personal and institutional oppression. We look into our learned patterns of behavior and practice strategies to better collaborate in multicultural settings.

Judy Lee Participating at Artists of Color Expo

Artists of Color Expo (ACES) is an annual pop-up exhibit to showcase visual work by BIPOC artists exploring themes of cultural storytelling and community connection. This exhibit, organized by Shunpike Arts, offers a platform for both emerging and established artists to share their vision in a public space and spark conversation.

Judy Lee, our Project Manager, will be debuting her new mixed media work, "Letters to My Father" at ACES. Housed in 2 shadow boxes with the detritus of excised words littering their bottoms, this series of 4 found poems are from the pages of a Korean-English bible he gifted her decades ago. Mounted on childhood photographs, these "letters" are a one-sided conversation in English, with the Korean side left intact as a way to communicate with her father. This project touches on the religious, cultural, and language barriers that prevents them from having a meaningful relationship.

The show is opening Friday, October 17 from 5–8 PM at 805 1st Ave in Seattle, with gallery hours throughout the month, including during Pioneer Square Artwalk on Thursday, November 6th. If you'd like to see the show, visit the ACES website to see all the scheduled events and gallery hours.
