Our Latest E-Course on Stereotypes and Bias is Here!

Over the past couple of years, we've been working on getting all six of our foundational workshops into online course format and we're excited to share that the final one, How Stereotypes Become Bias and Ways to Interrupt Them is complete! Below is a brief introduction to the course taught by Dr. Caprice Hollins.

In addition to this course on stereotypes and bias, we offer five other foundational courses:

  • Foundations for Social Justice: Addressing Race Relations in the 21st Century

  • Talking About Race: Courageous Conversations for a Diverse & Inclusive Workplace

  • Microaggressions: What are They and How are They Harmful?

  • Addressing Microaggressions: Strategies for Engaging through Tension

  • Unpacking Privilege in the Workplace

Our e-learning courses feature interactive videos with reflective exercises and quizzes to reinforce participants' learning. They can be used as self-guided courses for individuals or for organizations. Here are some ideas for how they can be used by your organization:

  • Group facilitation (we provide a facilitator guide and printable handout).

  • Onboarding new employees or for employees that missed live trainings.

  • Training for your equity team.

Visit our e-course platform Thinkific by click on the button below to learn more about the course. If you're interested in a group rate, please reach out to Judy at judy.lee@culturesconnecting.com for our discounted group rates.

August is Intersectionality Awareness & National Black Philanthropy Month

Split poster reading INTERSECTIONALITY Awareness and NATIONAL BLACK Philanthropy, with colorful Venn circles and a hand holding a sprout.

Intersectionality Awareness Month is a time dedicated to exploring how overlapping aspects of identity, such as race, gender, class, sexuality, disability, and more, combine to shape a person's experiences of both privilege and discrimination. The term was coined by Columbia University law professor Kimberlé Crenshaw in her 1989 and seeks to define the overlapping oppressions experienced by people who are part of multiple marginalized groups. Visit Dr. Crenshaw's TEDx talk, "The Urgency of Intersectionality" to learn more.

National Black Philanthropy Month is a time to recognize the deep, long-standing tradition of giving within Black communities tracing back through churches, fraternal organizations, and mutual aid societies that sustained communities before the Civil War, through Reconstruction, and beyond. Black Philanthropy Month itself was launched in 2011, originally conceived by Dr. Jackie Bouvier Copeland with early support from the Pan-African Women's Philanthropy Network (now known as Reunity). It began as a summit to advance funding equity by promoting philanthropy among people of African descent, and has since grown into a global campaign. At its core, the month honors generosity built on care, mutual aid, and community support. Visit the Black Philanthropy website to learn about the ways you can get involved.

Listen to Men's Healing Network Podcast

Creating social change requires us to look inward and examine the ways we show up in the world and either contribute to harm. One way you can do that is to listen to Men's Healing Network Podcast hosted by our colleague Vincent Perez. In this podcast, men have intentional conversations to speak honestly and share the moments that shaped who they are. They cover topics such as masculinity, trust, connection and more. Visit their site or listen to the podcast on the podcatcher of your choice.
